How can I protect my children from Morgellons?
The original pioneer for the Syndrome known as Morgellons was searching for information on the condition that plagued her two year old son. As with any childhood illness, it can be excruciating for a parent to watch their child suffer from Morgellons related symptoms and know that there is nothing you can do. How do you explain to your child that no one knows what is wrong with them and that there is no way to fix it? It seems unfair that children should have to endure this, but Morgellons does not discriminate based on age.
Children represent a number of people that have been affected by Morgellons in one way or another. Either they are sufferers of the condition themselves or live with adults and other family members that are. Because it is unknown what causes Morgellons or whether it is contagious, it is extremely difficult to protect your children from it as is possible with other illnesses. Additionally, it is nearly impossible to protect them from seeing the suffering that their parents or family members endure living with Morgellons.
One major factor that links children with Morgellons symptoms may have to do with certain psychological disorders. Of the children with Morgellons symptoms, the majority have one or more of either ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), ODD (Oppositional Mood Disorder) other mood disorders such as depression or anxiety or some level of autism. An estimated seventy five percent of Morgellons suffering children have either some psychiatric illness or autism.
The symptoms and complaints associated with Morgellons can be bad enough when you imagine experiencing them yourself. However, most parents would probably agree that they would gladly endure anything if it meant that their children didn’t have to.. Unfortunately, it is not that simple, and there really is very little that parents can do right now to keep their children from experiencing Morgellons. It seems to occur in a random variety of people and the cause is yet unknown.
Morgellons is increasing in number and becoming more globally publicized. There are publications, websites and professionals that have limited knowledge as to the warning signs and effects of Morgellons. Though it may be difficult now to protect your child from Morgellons, you can take a proactive role by educating yourself as much as possible. By keeping up to date on the most recent developments, you have a better chance at protecting yourself and your family and being among the first to know when more information is found.
