Treatments for Morgellons Disease
Morgellons Disease has been baffling researchers and doctors alike, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any easier. Morgellons is an unusual fiber disease that makes patients feel as if they have bugs literally crawling under their skin. What is also so shocking about this disease are the little fibers that start sprouting from their skin in areas where they feel the most crawling sensations. So far there isn’t much happening in the way of a treatment for Morgellons Disease.
There is little known about Morgellons Disease treatment and for that reason researchers have yet to come up with a cure for this painful and often debilitating disease. What first starts off as lesions on the body that pop up in unusual patterns leads to mental health issues such as brain fog, declining vision, as well as other conditions. It can lead to death as found in some of the cases.
Doctors have come to the conclusion that it may be linked in some way to Lyme Disease. In fact almost all cases of Morgellons Disease also test positive for Borrelia Burgdorferi which is the cause of Lyme Disease. So it stands to reason that as of right now, one is the cause of the other, although no one is sure yet which one comes first. For now though, patients are being treated for the Lyme Disease which is helping to control the symptoms of Morgellons Disease but again, no formal Morgellons Disease Treatment has been implemented. Patients are seeing reductions in their symptoms including the lesions and fibers within weeks, although without medication it comes back immediately. Therefore they have a treatment, but not a cure.
For right now the patients that have what is considered to Morgellons Disease are being treated strictly with the antibiotics for Lyme Disease. There are three patient researched treatments that are starting to take on a life of their own. First there is the Bentonite Clay that is put directly onto the lesions and fibers. It is a temporary relief because when the clay comes off the lesions again start to itch and protrude fibers. The second is a garlic necklace. There have been 12 reported cases of patients that have donned a full garlic necklace and their symptoms literally disappeared within hours. The garlic is refreshed every few days and these patients have yet to have any of the symptoms come back. The third are alfalfa tablets. If you put a bottle of alfalfa tablets in a tub and soak in it, patients have said that they actually can see the black flecks of Morgellons Disease literally float away from their body. The fibers start to dissolve in front of their eyes, and suddenly they are symptom free. Again, these are patient found treatments and may not necessarily work for everyone.
The Lyme Disease antibiotics are helping with the mental health aspect of Morgellons Disease, but not to the extent that the researchers would like. It is a hope of the Morgellons Research Foundation that doctors will work with them, as well as the patients to help find a treatment for Morgellons Disease soon so that the patients can stop suffering.
