Morgellons Disease Research
Up until a few years ago there was little to nothing known or understood about Morgellons Disease. In fact there was little research at all being done. It has been because of the persistence of the patients and a few doctors who believe in this disease that Morgellons Research has gone as far as it has.
The leading Morgellons Research is done by Morgellons Research Foundation which was formed because of the consistency of the stories told by Morgellon Disease suffers. They are a non-profit organization that is determined in helping to find a cure or treatment for this disease. It was established in 2002 by a mother who had a child with what was called Morgellons Disease. After being told that it was in her sons mind and not real she set out to help the thousands of families that are being affected by this. As of right now there are 9,447 families that are registered in the database saying that one or more of their family members have this debilitating disease.
Both the Morgellons Research Foundation and Dr. Randy Wymore have taken the time to compose a letter to physicians around the world to try to impose on them the seriousness of this disease. Not only do they want to inform disbelieving doctors but they also want to point out that there are enough cases in this country alone that it should be taken as truth and not delusions, as many doctors have previously thought. They emphasize the importance of not writing off the patients as “crazy” and taking their symptoms and their stories seriously. It is only because of the work of Dr. Wymore and The Morgellons Research Foundation that this disease has come to light as quickly as it has.
Before the foundation was implemented in 2002 there was virtually no Morgellons research being done, nor was anything set to be done, even in the state of Texas where they had found the most cases. It was simply misdiagnosed and misunderstood. Now, with the intensive Morgellons research there may be help yet for Morgellons Disease.
