Are there any treatments I can use to alleviate Morgellons symptoms?
Although Morgellons has not been recognized as an actual disease, there are several severe symptoms associated with it. The sufferers of Morgellons are victims in pain and misery as a result of the symptoms. Although there are no known causes, cures or treatments for Morgellons itself, there have been some remedies to help with the discomfort caused by the condition. These range from different prescription and over the counter medications to home remedies discovered by sufferers through trial and error.
It has been passed around through Morgellons patients that certain topical treatments such as hydrogen peroxide or Vaseline can help the itchiness of the lesions subside. Because the lesions are open sores, common treatments for wounds can help alleviate them. Of course, it is not recommended that the sufferer scratch the sores, as they may worsen. These sores associated with Morgellons can increase in size an number and spread if they are consistently scratched.
Others have reported that Morgellons has been improved by the use of enzyme cleaner. This chemical is not particularly for use on the human body, but sufferers in pain will try just about anything to get it to go away. It should be said that you should always beware of any websites or publications advertising approved Morgellons treatments or cures. There is no known cause or Morgellons, no known treatments for Morgellons and certainly no known cure.
Antibiotics have been given to patients complaining of Morgellons symptoms, primarily because many believe that it is a bacterial or parasitic infection. Antibiotics will attach the infection at its source and can fight a disease from the inside out. Still, these treatments for Morgellons are not known to be effective, as the cause of Morgellons is an enigma. All that can really be done for the time being is to treat Morgellons symptoms independently as if they are separate conditions. There may never be a definitive determination for Morgellons so measures should be taken to at least ease the pain.
The supposed cures for Morgellons are vast and unconfirmed. While many people will attempt to self-diagnose and cure an existing condition, this is not always safe. The CDC has not approved any cures or treatments Morgellons, and anyone claiming they have should be reported to the proper authorities. That being said, only you know what works to ease your discomfort. Consulting a doctor can help to steer you in the right direction, and until a cure is found that is really all that can be done for Morgellons.
